Co. Springs 'panhandler' arrested for vehicle break-ins

A 'panhandler' known well by Colorado Springs police is in jail on $25,000 bond for his suspected involvement in a rash of vehicle break-ins.

Timothy Taylor, 45, was arrested Friday morning following an investigation into a series of vehicle break-ins at the Palmer Park Trailheads.   Police say that, in at least one instance, Taylor broke into luggage and stole two purses with checks, cash, and credit cards inside them.  Taylor is also suspected of breaking into a car outside the Arby's restaurant on North Academy Boulevard near Vickers Drive.  Police also suspect Taylor broke into vehicles in parking lots near where he would routinely 'panhandle' for cash.

Police say all the stolen items were returned to their rightful owners.
