Cognitive tests could help with driving after a stroke

It's often difficult to know when it's safe for stroke patients to get back behind the wheel.

Now, new research found that simple cognitive tests that measure focus, attention, reaction time and perception can often predict driving readiness.

In a study of 78 patients who were examined between six and 20 months after their stroke, the tests were 80% accurate in assessing driving fitness.
