DENVER (AP) - A western Colorado outfitter accused of hunting violations has been sentenced to three years and five months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

A federal judge also sentenced 72-year-old Dennis Eugene Rodebaugh of Meeker on Wednesday to pay a $7,500 fine and $37,390 in restitution to the state of Colorado.

A jury convicted him last year of aiding and abetting six violations of the Lacey Act. Prosecutors say his business, D&S Guide and Outfitter, provided out-of-state customers with hunting-guide services from salt-baited tree-stands, even though it's illegal in Colorado to use bait to take big game.

Rodebaugh's assistant guide Brian Kunz was sentenced Wednesday to time served, a year of probation, and a $2,000 fine for violating the Lacey Act while working for Rodebaugh.
