DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Democratic Party has raised more money than the state Republican Party through the first half of the year.

Reports released Friday show the Democratic Party raised $492,488 through June 30, while the GOP raised $326,731.

The reports filed with the Colorado secretary of state and the Federal Election Commission show that from April through June alone, Republicans raised $11,300 in state accounts while Democrats raised $80,192 in state accounts.

State GOP Chairman Ryan Call told The Denver Post his party tends to raise more money for its federal accounts during the first part of the year to give the party greater flexibility and money for voter registration and get-out-the-vote initiatives.
