Colorado governor lays out modest agenda for 2014

DENVER (AP) - A year after saying "the time is right" for a gun-control debate, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper is laying out a much more modest agenda for 2014.

The Democratic governor earlier this year signed into law a package of gun-control measures including expanded background checks and a 15-round limit on ammunition magazines.

In an end-of-year talk with reporters Thursday, Hickenlooper says he doesn't want to see any of those laws repealed. But he told reporters he'd consider tweaks to some of them, without specifying what changes he'd agree to.

The governor announced no major new initiatives. He said he hopes next session is marked by bipartisanship. That's an unlikely outcome as Hickenlooper seeks re-election and Republicans are within a single seat of controlling the state Senate.
