Colorado lawmakers resume work today

DENVER (AP) - Colorado lawmakers have snapped pictures, set up new offices and promised to work together. Now it's time for the real work to begin.

When the state Legislature resumes work Tuesday, lawmakers have opening-week speeches and other formalities out of the way. They'll be starting work looking for budget cuts and new legislation.

Highlights this week include a visit by a Colorado jurist whose writings about water derailed the gubernatorial hopes of a Republican last year. Former Colorado Supreme Court Justice Gregory Hobbs is talking to lawmakers on agriculture committees about water law.

Hobbs' writings on water law were plagiarized years later by Republican Scott McInnis, who lost the GOP primary after the plagiarism was reported
