Colorado National Guard group going to Afghanistan

Colorado Army National Guard soldiers are teaming up with soldiers from Slovenia to train military forces in Afghanistan.

The Army says the Colorado soldiers are leaving Monday to train in Fort Polk, La., and Germany before arriving in Afghanistan in the fall of 2010. The soldiers will receive language and culture
training before the six-month deployment in Afghanistan.

The Army says the 12 Colorado soldiers are joining 30 Slovene soldiers as part of a program to mentor and train the Afghan National Army on operational planning and mission execution.

A ceremony for the soldiers will be held in Centennial Monday before they depart.
