Colorado senators back EPA in global warming

Colorado's two Democratic senators have affirmed support for federal environmental regulators as the Senate prepared to take its first vote on a measure some see as a test of the Senate's stand on climate change.

Sens. Mark Udall and Michael Bennet both have vowed to vote against a Republican-led effort to stop the Environmental Protection Agency from carrying out regulations to control greenhouse gases.

President Barack Obama has vowed to veto the measure, though passage appears unlikely.

The Senate is expected to take up a broader global warming proposal this summer to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
