Colorado sex-change doctor considering move

A doctor known for performing sex-change operations in Trinidad is considering leaving town.
Dr. Marci Bowers says she is "98 percent sure" she will be moving to the San Francisco area Oct. 1. Bowers has been in Colorado for about seven years, but she said Monday that there are advantages to being in a bigger city that is easier for patients to reach.
She also is in a relationship with a first-year surgical resident in San Francisco. She says if she moves, she would join an office in San Mateo with two plastic surgeons and a surgery center.
Bowers says she is disappointed in some leaders of the Trinidad hospital where she operates and that moving could cut her patients' costs.
