Colorado Springs eye doctor died ice fishing

A Colorado Springs optometrist has been identified as the man who died on Nichols Reservoir Sunday. The El Paso County Sheriff's office says Dr. Tony Ikehara was ice fishing and fell into the water.

From clues they found at the scene, they determined that Dr. Ikehara was able to pull himself to shore, but died from exposure to the weather. It appears he was out there overnight.

A hiker found his body and called the Sheriff's office for help.

Dr. Ikehara was 46 years old. According to the website for his company, his eye care office has been open for 5-years. Before that he worked in another local office in Colorado Springs. Dr. Ikehara volunteered as a blind skier/hiking guide with the Visually Impaired and Blind Skiers of the Colorado Springs Community.
