"We try to hold off as long as we can," but Colorado Springs Fire Marshal Brett Lacey is now taking action to try and prevent wildfires. A complete fire ban is now in place in Colorado Springs.

One of the most commonly asked questions is about using grills for outdoor cooking. Lacey says, "Charcoal grilling and cooking can still happen on private property at people's residences, but not in any of the area parks of open space."

Other details of the ban are:

Welding, blasting and torches allowed only by permit.
No bonfires
No model rockets
No open or prescribed fires
No recreational fires
Smoking materials must be disposed of in a non-combustible container
