Colorado Springs man killed in Hwy 94 accident

A Colorado Springs was killed an his 19 year old son was seriously injured in a traffic accident on Colorado Highway 94 late Saturday afternoon. Christopher Phillips, 40, was driving west on Hwy 94 in a 2002 Jaguar when he collided with a 2007 GMC Sierra pick up that was making a left turn onto Antelope Drive.

According to investigators with the Colorado State Patrol, the vehicles hit side to side indicating that Phillips turned to avoid the pickup. Deborah Mason, 40, also of Colorado Springs was riding in the front passenger seat and sustained minor injuries. Shane Phillips, 19, was riding in the back seat and suffered serious injuries.

The driver of the pick up, Jeremy Petty, 31 of Calhan, suffered minor injuries. All of the drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts. State troopers don't believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
