Colorado Springs police recover 11 stolen vehicles and arrest three people in connection with those thefts this week.
The first arrest happened Monday when the Colorado Springs Police Department Auto Theft Unit established surveillance on a stolen 1992 Honda in the area of Shook's Runs. Detectives located the vehicle in the parking lot of the Citadel Mall and arrested Nicholas Messina, 19, for Motor Vehicle Theft. A juvenile passenger was also arrested for being in possession of 1.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine. The Auto Theft Unit recovered three additional stolen vehicles that day unrelated to the above arrest.
On Tuesday, detectives tracked a stolen 1995 Acura Integra that was equipped with Lo-Jack to 2720 Tremont St. During the investigation four additional stolen motor vehicles were recovered in a three-block area. The resident identified as Luke Szymanowski was arrested for Motor Vehicle Theft.
The final arrest came Friday when detectives located a stolen 2004 Acura in the 3600 block of East Bijou St. Detectives arrested Natalia Hornsey, 23, for the Motor Vehicle Theft, ID Theft and unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon.
In all, the 11 motor vehicles had a combined value of approximately $26,500.
