This year's city budget cuts had Colorado Springs swimmers nervous with the closing of local pools. However, those swimmers get a little more relief this weekend. The Colorado Springs Recreation Center, off of South Union Blvd., is open again.

It was the Colorado Springs Swim School that stepped in when the city's facilities were threatened by budget cuts. They kept open the Wilson Ranch and Portal pools this summer.

Now people are enjoying the third facility that the swim school is now running.

"The city was losing money on it, so we've been able to partner with the city and let us try and take on the responsibility of it," explains Kevin Dessart, co-owner of the Colorado Springs Swim School. "The city still owns the facilities, we'll come in manage and run the facilities -- and hopefully we build that model."
