Despite the controversy over the new "cashless cards", the Colorado State Fair saw more visitors this year than they did last year. Attendance increased slightly to 476,966; up from 474,914 in 2012.
According to the Fair's not so popular new cashless system, the top three food items sold at the fair are funnel cakes, turkey legs, followed by corn dogs.
"We understand that some people are not in favor of the new cashless system but I believe this is a trend coming soon to state fairs across the country, " said General Manager, Chris Wiseman. "We will certainly listen to our customers and make any necessary adjustments."
Whether or not spending was up is still not known. A profit/loss report is currently being figured and those numbers should be available in November.
