Coloradans who have been denied health insurance because they have pre-existing conditions will be able to take advantage of a new state insurance plan. Temporary coverage will become available starting Tuesday. It will be phased out in 2014 when federal health care legislation will begin barring insurance companies from rejecting people.

The state program will offer coverage to people who have been uninsured for at least six months and have been denied coverage because of a medical condition. More information is expected to be released on Tuesday.
