A pregnant Colorado woman charged in a global terrorism plot has pleaded not guilty with a shake of the head to avoid giving investigators a voice sample.
A lawyer for Jaime Paulin-Ramirez says the government has seized hard drives and computer evidence that may contain voice recordings. He wanted his client to remain silent at Wednesday's arraignment in Philadelphia so that prosecutors would not have a sample of her voice.
Lawyer Jeremy Ibrahim says Paulin-Ramirez is 12 weeks pregnant. She will remain in custody until trial.
Paulin-Ramirez is charged with aiding a terror group that was plotting to kill a Swedish cartoonist. Prosecutors say she flew to Ireland in September to join another American woman and married an Algerian co-conspirator the same day.
