DENVER (AP) - Red Cross workers in Colorado and Wyoming have heard from 37 families trying to locate loved ones in the Philippines after the devastating typhoon.
Red Cross officials said Wednesday the families are trying to contact 168 people who live in the Philippines or were working or visiting there. About a third of the families have re-established contact.
At least 2,300 deaths have been confirmed from the typhoon and the toll is expected to rise. An estimated 600,000 people have been displaced and many have no shelter and little food or water.
