TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Doctors say the Arizona congresswoman who was shot in the head Saturday is responding to simple commands. But they say it could take weeks to months before they know the full damage done to Gabrielle Giffords' brain.

Six people, including a 9-year-old girl and a judge, were killed. The congresswoman remains in intensive care at a Tucson hospital.

This morning, President Barack Obama will lead the nation in a moment of silence to honor Giffords and the others injured or killed in the mass shooting.
