Update: The construction crew hit an abandoned natural gas stub, according to Colorado Springs Utilities. CSU says the contractor followed all procedures in attempting to locate gas lines before work began, however, abandoned lines weren't revealed. The abandoned gas line contained residual gas.
Update: Colorado Springs Utilities has capped the leak.
COLORADO SPRINGS - Construction crews working in the 1500 block of South Tejon Street broke a natural gas line. Fire crews have responded and are working to stop the leak. Traffic from Brookside to Ramona has been diverted. Avoid the area if possible.
