TODAY: Sunny and cold to start the day. Later this afternoon we'll see a few clouds and slightly warmer temps compared to yesterday. Max temps will reach 44 for Colorado Springs and 47 for Pueblo and Canon City. It will be a little breezier today for places like Trinidad, La Junta, Lamar and Springfield, so in these areas temps will actually reach the lower to middle 50's. Later today you'll notice a few clouds migrating across the area from the southwest. These clouds are a sign of the next, bigger storm system that is on the way.
TONIGHT: A mix of clouds and clear skies and slightly milder overnight temps. Lower 20's for Canon, La Junta, Trinidad and Colorado Springs. Pueblo and Pueblo West will be in the upper teens and lower 20's.
WEDNESDAY: Unsettled weather expected across the News 5 viewing area thanks to the incoming Pacific storm. This storm will move through New Mexico, which means a good chance of precip for all of eastern Colorado. As of today it appears the storm will move a little too far to the north to be a huge snow maker for the Springs and Pueblo but measurable snow is a good bet. Best chance for a good shot of much needed moisture will be on the plains. There are WINTER STORM WATCHES that begin Wednesday morning and last through Thursday morning for parts of eastern and all of northeastern Colorado. This watch includes Prowers and Kiowa Counties in our viewing area where a total snowfall accumulation of 4-8 inches of snow is possible. Areas on the plains could actually start with some freezing rain early Wednesday morning, so this storm will be one to watch for some very hazardous driving conditions in spots. As of right now it look like this storm could bring more snow to places like Fountain and Colorado Springs compared to spots like Monument...a fairly uncommon weather occurrence when we have snow. Good news for skiers and snowboarders....snow expected in the mountains and it will likely be snowing at times at your favorite resort on-and-off all the way through at least Wednesday of next week!
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Snow and gusty winds a good bet...especially on the eastern plains. Wind will make some already chilly temps feel even colder.
THURSDAY: Morning commute could be a bit slow along I-25...it is expected to be a wintry morning on the plains. With gusty winds for all of us during the day it will feel very cold! High temps of only about 31 for Colorado Springs and the mid 30's for Canon City and Pueblo. Best chances for more snow shower activity looks like it will be very early in the morning. Slight chance during the late afternoon/evening of another isolated snow shower or two.
FRIDAY-SATURDAY: Quieter, drier and slightly milder weather expected both days as we will be between storms. Temps on Friday will be in the upper 30's in the Springs and lower 40's for Pueblo and Canon City with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. On Saturday it will be breezy and noticeably warmer with temps in the upper 40's for the Springs and the lower to middle 50's for the lower Arkansas River Valley. There is another storm on the way, so there will be snow in the mountains again and even another chance of snow by late in the evening for the Pikes Peak region and mountains west of I-25.
SUNDAY: Chance of snow early in the day with chilly temps. During the afternoon there will be quieter conditions and highs of only about 35 in the Springs and 42 in Pueblo and Canon City.
MONDAY: Uneventful weather to start the new week ahead. Mostly sunny skies, light winds and temps that should be about 4-6 degrees warmer compared to Sunday.
