Cooler and gray today

More rain is possible along the Southern Front Range today, but unlike the past couple of days the afternoon should be mostly quiet. Our Thursday will begin with clouds and perhaps some spotty areas of light rain. Temperatures will hold steady under the clouds in the 50's for most of us throughout the first half or the day. After the noon hour, the clouds will break up and finally start the warming. Limited warming, however, will mean a cooler day with highs only in the 60's for most of us with 70's in the Southeastern Plains. After a quiet afternoon, another wave of rain could move across Southern Colorado tonight before warmer and drier conditions take over tomorrow along I-25. In the Plains, thunderstorms are possible. One or two of those storms could briefly become severe. Hail and damaging wind will be the primary threats, and the threat is mainly centered along the Kansas border from Springfield to Lamar to Kit Carson.

Memorial Day weekend will be warm and breezy. Highs will be in the 80's around Colorado Springs and closer to 90 along and south of the Arkansas River.
