Cooler for Sunday, but temps warm again next week

WEATHER DISCUSSION: Saturday's afternoon temperatures were more than 10 degrees warmer that seasonal averages for January 19th. A national temperature map already shows cold air spilling over the Canadian border into the Dakotas. That cold air will flow into our area during the day Sunday. The leading edge of that cold air is a cold front that will bring with it some clouds. Our temperatures will be cooler both Sunday and Monday, but the coldest air within the cold air mass will stay over the Great Plains and our temperatures will still be slightly warmer than climatological averages. High pressure behind that cold front will slide eastward fairly quickly Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. West of the high pressure's center, temperatures will warm and by Friday clouds could begin thickening up across Colorado, especially in the High Country. On Friday we begin watching as a storm system develops over the Southwestern U.S. beneath an active jet stream. That storm system could mean heavy snow next weekend for parts of Colorado.
