COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Cornell grabbed an early two-goal lead and added an empty-net goal in the closing seconds to beat sixth-ranked Colorado College 3-1 Friday in men's college hockey.
No. 13 Cornell (9-4-1) got goals by Locke Jillson and John McCarron in the first period to go up 2-0.
Nick Dineen's power-play goal early in the second period cut the Tigers' (12-7-0) deficit to 2-1. That's as close as Colorado College would get as Big Red goalie Andy Iles made 14 of his 39 saves in the third period.
Colorado College had a 40-24 advantage in shots on goal.
Greg Miller added an insurance goal with just 8 seconds remaining in the game.
Colorado College goalie Josh Thorimbert made 21 saves.
