Couple to face trial in Monument child killing

Two former Monument residents will face trial in the death of 9-year-old Genesis Sims. Her body was found earlier this year in a crawlspace, long after her father and his girlfriend had moved away. They were arrested in Nevada in July.
Hanif Sims was charged with child abuse resulting in death, while his girlfriend Monique Lynch is charged with murder. After a preliminary hearing last Friday, which was continued today, a judge ruled there is enough evidence to move ahead with a trial.
They will be arraigned next month.
