A Denver medical marijuana dispensary is suing to block a Denver zoning law it says is forcing it to close.
The dispensary operated by SNW LLC, open for about two months, is being forced out by an ordinance banning all dispensaries in residential areas. Attorney Rob Corry says he filed the lawsuit Thursday, the same day a state law regulating the medical marijuana industry took effect.
Corry says the Denver ordinance allows other clinics and apothecaries in residential areas, so he feels the city is holding medical marijuana dispensaries to a higher standard.
A hearing is scheduled Tuesday on Corry's request for a temporary restraining order to block the ordinance. He says he also plans to challenge the new state regulations of medical marijuana.
