A crash involving a stolen car left one man dead in Colorado Springs early Thursday morning.
Investigators say a police officer spotted a green KIA matching the description of one reported stolen, the officer pulled closer to the car to get a license plate number. Police don't know if the driver of the car spotted the officer, but the driver ran a red light at the intersection of Airport Road and Academy Boulevard and hit another car.
The driver of the car that was struck died of his injuries shortly after the crash.
Three suspects, two believed to be juveniles, jumped out of the stolen vehicle and attempted to runaway. All three suspects were quickly taken into custody by police.
"So you've got three people who for whatever reason were in a stolen vehicle and because of that now you've got someone that lost their life," explained Barbara Miller of the Colorado Springs Police Department. "These three are facing vehicular homicide in addition to the motor vehicle theft and any other charges we may find."
According to police a stolen gun was also found in the suspect's vehicle.
The names of the suspects and the victim have yet to be released.
