Colorado Springs Police Department have issued a warning about a new crime pattern in the city. In the past four months there have been a dozen reports of catalytic converters being stolen from vehicles throughout the city.
Catalytic converters contain precious metals including platinum, palladium and rhodium with a value to thieves of up to $200. Vehicles that sit high off the ground, like Toyota 4Runners have been a primary target.
Police say that if you can't park your car in a garage, make sure it is in a well-lit place that can be seen by passers-by.
