The Iowa Cubs blasted past the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 11-7, Thursday night at Principal Park Thursday night in Des Moines.
Welington Castillo hit a grand slam for the Cubs in the five-run fifth inning that saw Iowa bat around. Castillo recorded six RBI in the win.
Iowa's starting pitcher Coleman (4-3, 3.40) threw four scoreless, hitless innings. He picked up the win, allowing one run on two hits over five innings.
Colorado Springs attempted a late rally in the eighth inning, scoring three more runs, but it was not enough. Brad Eldred hit a two-run double and Jonathan Herrera drove in a run for the 11-7 final. Brandon Durden (0-2, 11.00) was tagged with the loss, allowing eight runs on seven hits in four innings.
