Cuddyer hits for 2nd career cycle

In the second game of the Rockies doubleheader against the Reds (COL 10, CIN 5), outfielder Michael Cuddyer hit for the cycle. He is the first player to hit for the cycle in 2014.

Cuddyer tripled off Dylan Axelrod in the first inning, homered off Axelrod in the sixth inning, singled off Carlos Contreras in the seventh inning, and doubled off Manny Parra in the eighth inning. He also mixed in a third inning strikeout.

It is the second cycle of Cuddyer's career. He accomplished the feat back in May 2009 while with the Twins. He is the seventh Rockie to hit for the cycle, joining Dante Bichette (1998), Neifi Perez (1998), Todd Helton (1999), Mike Lansing (2000), Troy Tulowitzki (2009) and Carlos Gonzalez (2010).

Cuddyer, 35, came into Sunday's doubleheader hitting .317/.366/.500 (129 OPS+) with five home runs in 31 games. He missed a bunch of time with a shoulder injury earlier this season.
