D-20 teacher arrested for alleged sexual assault

Colorado Springs Police arrested an Air Academy High School teacher for the Sexual Assault of a child.
Crimes Against Children Unit was notified by a School Resource Officer about the alleged sexual assault.
Police say after they interviewed the victim, a search warrant was obtained for the residence of 40-year-old Bryan Paul Mertz.
Mertz was transported to CJC and charged with Sexual Assault of a Child by one in a Position of Trust, a class three felony charge.
Due to Mertz's employment as a teacher, he had contact with minors on a regular basis. Police are concerned there may be additional victims.
