GOP gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes, who has touted his business experience running telecommunications and credit reporting companies, says he filed personal bankruptcy 20 years ago.
According to The Denver Post, Maes filed bankruptcy in 1989 when he was 29 years old and single. Maes spokesman Nate Strauch says Maes has no plans to drop out of the race. He refused to answer any other questions.
Maes has lost support from a number of Republicans, including former U.S. Sen. Hank Brown, who cited character issues.
