There's a very odd court case going on in Indiana right now. A couple who rescued an injured deer and nursed it back to health now face criminal charges.
It all started when police officer Jeff Counceller responded to a call of a wounded fawn on a porch about two years ago.
He brought the animal to his wife who's a nurse because he thought she could help.
"I was gonna put her back in the woods, but I seen the injuries and I knew they were life threatening so I called Jennifer," said Counceller.
They called the fawn "Dani" and did what they could to help her heal and grow into a healthy adult.
Wildlife officers told the couple they needed a rescue permit to keep Dani, they were turned down, but kept taking care of the deer.
Now, they're being charged with harboring a wild animal, and could face up to 60 days in jail if they're convicted.
