Delta police using body cameras while on duty

DELTA, Colo. (AP) - The Delta Police Department is getting new body cameras to help officers resolve disputes with citizens.

Police Chief Robert Thomas says it's a useful way to gather evidence and record incidents, including domestic violence calls and DUI's.

He also says the cameras make sure that there are always eyes on the officers themselves.

According to KREX-TV, the chief believes it is important for the police department to hold itself accountable and also protect the officers from false allegations of misconduct.
