Denver police arrest suspect in beating death

DENVER (AP) - Police have arrested a 47-year-old man suspected of beating another man to death near downtown Denver earlier this week.

Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez says Martin Trusty was arrested early Saturday morning for the Monday death of 44-year-old Darwin Brown. Trusty is being held for investigation of first-degree murder.

Officers were called to the area of West 11th Avenue and Santa Fe Drive at about 5:45 p.m. Monday on a report of an assault. Brown was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later.

The Denver Post reports Trusty has a lengthy criminal history dating to 1986, including multiple charges of drug offenses and burglary.
