Denver Police find missing Westminster kids

DENVER - Denver police have located two runaways who did not return to their Westminster home Friday morning.

Andrew and Diamond Vigil were found near the corner of West 41st Avenue and Navajo Street Friday evening.

Westminster police had been going door-to-door looking for them after they didn't come home early Friday morning.

Police say Andrew, 9, his sister, Diamond, 10, and a third sibling had an argument with their mother July 4 about watching fireworks and ultimately ran away. The oldest child, a 12-year-old, returned home at about midnight.

The parents did not report the kids missing. Police learned of the missing children while handling a report for a stolen bicycle. Police say the person reporting the bike theft indicated the Vigil kids may be responsible for taking the bike.

Police will work with social services to look into the supervision and welfare of the children, according to a tweet from WPD.
