Denver's keeping the stock show

AURORA, Colo. (AP) - Aurora's mayor says his city won't try to take the National Western Stock Show & Rodeo away from Denver.

The stock show needs more space and had considered moving to Aurora, next to a proposed a 1,500-room hotel by Nashville, Tenn.,-based Gaylord Entertainment. Denver and Aurora together applied for state subsidies to help build the hotel and stock-show facility in Aurora, but Denver pulled out after some Denver City Council members raised concerns about the stock show leaving Denver after 105 years.

The Denver Post reports that at a meeting Thursday between Denver and Aurora city councils, Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan made it clear his city isn't interested in the stock show. Aurora is still going forward with plans for the hotel.
