Two local law enforcement officers have been killed in a plane crash in Pueblo County. The plane vanished just before 10 a.m. The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office says the wreckage was found earlier tonight about five miles southwest of Lake San Isabel in Custer County.

We're told the pilot was a retired Pueblo Police officer and the passenger was a Pueblo County Sheriff's deputy. Their names have not been released yet.

Teams will recover the bodies in the morning and the National Transportation Safety Board will be there to investigate. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.

The sheriff's office says the aircraft was flying over the San Isabel National Forest doing air surveillance of possible marijuana grow operations.
