Colorado Springs School District 11 has adopted its 2010-2011budget.

The Board of Educationi had to trim $13 million from its budget for next school year, but did so without having to charge for transportation, implement furlough days for employees, increasing class size or moving to a shorter work week or school year.

District 11 did close nine school buildings last year. Glenn Gustafson, Chief Financial Officer, stated, "We were able to protect both compensation and jobs for our people and most of our instructional programs. That is very important to our urgent student achievement mission. We have set high goals and developed long reaching strategies, and keeping our staff motivated will help us accomplish those goals."

The 2010-2011 budget will be approximately $364 million.
