A van rolls into Runyon Lake, and the owner tries to save the animals inside.

It happened this morning in Pueblo.

Police say they aren't sure if the parking break wasn't on or if the dogs inside hit the gearshift.

The van rolled out of the parking lot, down a hill, and into the water.

The owner jumped in and saved two dogs, but a third dog didn't make it.

Police say the owner is lucky he wasn't hurt.

"The van could have run over the owner," said Captain Mike Hammond, of the Pueblo Fire Department. "The owners were out fishing alongside the lake, and it could have run right over the top of them."

It also caused a hazmat issue when gas leaked out of the van.

They spent most of the morning containing the gas on top of the water and soaking it up.
