It was a hairy mayoral race in Divide, but in the end it was a "Dogocrat" that came out as top dog.

"Sprite" beat out her closest competitor, a "Republicat" named "Walter", by just over 500 votes. The competition was fierce with 21 "Dogocrats" and 4 "Republicats" all vying for the title.

Sprite received more than 47-hundred votes. All the candidates combined got more than 14-thousand votes, and that is great news for the Teller County Regional Animal Shelter because for each vote cast, they got a dollar!

The campaign was all part of a fundraiser for the shelter. The Inauguration will take place this Sunday at noon at the shelter in divide. There will be a bar-be-que and many of the candidates will be on hand to thank their supporters. Everyone is welcome including leashed pets.
