There are a lot of NBA players who can't shoot 87 percent from the free throw line. But this week's "Loaf ‘N Jug High School Athlete of the Week" is proud to say she can. Congratulations to junior Kim Cerjan the captain of the Doherty girls' basketball team.
This past season Kim helped lead the Spartans to the 5A Sweet 16 and was one of the top scorers and three point shooters in the state. Plus by hitting 87 percent of her free throws she is close to automatic from the line.
Doherty Athletic Director Chris Noll said, "Kim Cerjan is a perfect example of exactly what we want our kids to be. She works her tail off at everything she does."
Cerjan told News First 5's Jordan Mason she's looking forward to next season. Cerjan said, "I'm hoping to get a banner on our wall saying state champions."
In the classroom Kim carries a grade point average of 4.23. She volunteers with multiple organizations and says he dream is to pursue veterinary medicine and play basketball in college.
Congratulations to Kim Cerjan and don't forget to nominate your favorite athlete at NewsFirst5.com. We announce a new winner every Tuesday night on News First 5 at 6:00 and 10:00.
