Prosecutors have dropped a domestic violence charge filed against a Pueblo police officer after his wife, also an officer, said she wouldn't cooperate with the district attorney's office.

Officer Donnie Lambert faced a misdemeanor assault charge. He was arrested March 16. It's not clear when the case was dropped. He had been placed on administrative leave but officials say he's back at work.

Deputy District Attorney Shad Brown said in a court filing that Lambert's wife, officer Bernadette Lambert, told prosecutors she wouldn't honor any subpoena to appear in the case against her husband. Ignoring a subpoena can bring a contempt of court charge.
