Doughtery cases bound over for trial

Three Florida siblings who were captured in Colorado last month will be bound over for trial. Also according to testimony today, we've learned the fugitives planned to go to Mexico and were heavily armed.

Dylan, Ryan and Lee Grace each face numerous charges in Huerfano County, including attempted murder and assault on a peace officer. Today a judge found probable cause that crimes were committed.

The Doughtery's are accused of firing shots at pursuing officers during a high speed chase on I-25. They eventually crashed near Walsenburg and were arrested.

During the preliminary hearing FBI agent testified authorities found nine guns at the scene, including a machine pistol and Ak-47s, and close to 2,000 rounds ammunition.

Defense attorneys pointed out there's no evidence patrol cars were hit by bullets and claim their clients weren't trying to hurt anyone, rather get away. Defense attorney's for Ryan and Dylan said there was no evidence their clients fired at police. Lee Grace's attorney argued it was her long-haired brother Dylan who aimed a gun at officers from the moving car, not her. Her attorney also said when Lee Grace lifted a gun at the Walsenburg Police Chief, he wasn't in uniform and didn't know he was a cop.

According to another FBI agent, Ryan confessed he and his siblings were trying to flee to Mexico so he could avoid a lengthy probation sentence in Florida.

We'll continue to follow their cases.
