The Colorado Court of Appeals has rejected a claim by anti-tax crusader Douglas Bruce that Colorado Springs improperly rejected an initiative.
The court said Thursday that the city had the right to make its own rules and also delivered a harsh rebuke for Bruce. The court said Bruce broke numerous rules on filing appeals, but they decided to accept the case anyway because he has complained that he was denied his day in court.
The proposed initiative was intended to prevent the city's use of non-business enterprises to serve as "fronts for traditional governmental public works projects" paid for by fees that violate spending limits.
Bruce didn't immediately return a phone call seeking reaction.
