Dozens of bullets, no injuries or arrests

Colorado Springs Police are investigating a pair of early morning shootings. The first happened around 4:00 a.m. in an alley in the 800 block of South Corona St. About 40 minutes later, several shots were fired at a home in the 3400 block of Cochran Drive.

No one was injured at either scene, but the sheer number of bullets fired have neighbors worried.

At least a dozen bullets hit Angelo Vigil's minivan. His girlfriend's car and his neighbor's car were hit by several rounds as well.

Looking over the damage, Vigil can't believe what he sees. "It's a pretty messed up situation, especially this close to down town, there's a police station right there."

There are bullet holes on both sides of the cars which leads Vigil to believe there was some kind of a shoot out and that one of the gunmen took cover by his van.

"I ran to the door and whistled really loud to try and make some noise and as soon as I whistled I noticed the shooting stopped," Vigil said. "So, they must've got spooked and I seen one guy take off that way, I didn't get a good look at him."

While we were at the scene, another neighbor, Milan Vavra, spotted a cell phone and some foot prints. We reported the this new evidence to the police.

Over on Cochran Drive, Stenetha Hall showed us where the bullets hit her home. She says one bullet passed through her window and a partition wall in her living room into her bedroom.

Police don't know yet if the two shootings are related. No one seems to have gotten a good look at the suspects in either shooting. Anyone with related information is encourage to call the police at 444-7000 or to leave an anonymous tip call Crime Stoppers at 632-STOP (7867).
