Dozens of planes diverted from DIA

Dozens of planes landed in Colorado Springs instead of Denver Wednesday afternoon when weather threatened the flights.

John McGinley from the Colorado Springs Airport said about 2 p.m. DIA issued a "ground stop" which mean no planes in or out, but the Denver airport was not actually closed, the runways were just shut down.

This caused some delays for planes leaving Colorado Springs and headed to Denver, but it also brought 35 planes that were scheduled to land at DIA to the Springs Airport. Most of those planes just sat on the tarmac in Colorado Springs, but four did allow passengers to get off their planes.

By five p.m. all the planes had left Colorado Springs.
