Drive-by shooting scrambles police and sends one man to hospital

A man suffered a grazing gunshot wound early this morning following a gang related drive-by shooting.

Colorado Springs Police officers from the Sand Creek Division were dispatched to Nancy's Lion's Den, located at 2815 E. Platte Ave. following multiple reports of a shooting.

CSPD investigators determined that the victim was standing outside of the bar in the smoking area when a grey Chevy Impala drove by and the driver yelled out of "Park Side", which is a known gang in the area. At this time about six shots were fired towards the club striking the victim in the head.

As officers arrived on scene, a maroon Dodge Charger sped out of the parking lot. Officers were able to catch up to the car as it crash into a tree at Pikes Peak Avenue and Arlen Street.

The driver fled on foot, and an officer chased the suspect through two backyards and over several fences and an officer was able to fire his Taser to apprehend the suspect.

According to CSPD, the suspect was arrested and found to have multiple outstanding warrants. The suspect was later identified as Isaac Colon, age 22. Police also report that Colon is a self-admitted MS13 gang member but was not involved in the shooting.

The shooting victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries which were later identified as a grazing wound to the head.
