Driver died after high-speed flight ID'd

AURORA, Colo. (AP) - The driver found dead after apparently taking his 2- and 3-year-old children on a high-speed flight from Aurora police has been identified as 34-year-old Oscar Penaloza of Denver.

Police say Penaloza's body was found about 60 feet behind the SUV after it crashed in a park Tuesday. The children were unhurt in the vehicle. They told police he fell out of the SUV.

Police say Penaloza argued with the children's mother in Denver and drove away with the children. Police say the mother and her sister were injured when they tried to stop him.

Police say Penaloza's SUV reached 90 mph after an officer tried to pull him over for running a red light. Police say officers didn't pursue because department rules bar most high-speed chases for safety considerations.
