NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) - The Orange County coroner says the teen driver of a car that crashed in Newport Beach, killing all five youngsters aboard, did not have drugs or alcohol in his system.
Seventeen-year-old Abdulrahman Alyahyan lost control of his speeding Infiniti G35 on Memorial Day. The car slammed into a tree, split in half and caught fire.
The Los Angeles Times reports the toxicology report released Thursday also had results for two of the car's four passengers. Cecilia Zamora and Robin Cabrera, both 17, had cough medicine and antihistamines in their systems, but no alcohol or illegal drugs.
Reports were not yet available for Nozad al Hamawendi, 17, and 16-year-old Aurora Cabrera.
Alyahyan attended University High School. The four passengers went to Irvine High School.
Police said excessive speed was a factor in the crash.
